Analyzing Scaling Behavioral Trends in Self-potential Earthquake-related Data Measured in Mexico
نویسندگان
چکیده
The scaling behaviour of self-potential data (in the frequency range between 0 and 0.125Hz) observed in 1995 at Acapulco station in Mexico were investigated using the detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA), which is a powerful method to detect scaling in nonstationary time series. Approximately two scaling regions with two different scaling exponents α1 (on low timescales) and α2 (on high timescales)can be detected in the data, with a timevaring crossover. The analysis of the time variation of the scaling exponents in the two scaling regions shows, particularly, a significant increase of α1 before the occurrence of the strongest earthquake of magnitude M=7.4, that struck the area on September 14, 1995. These first results could be useful in the framework of earthquake prediction studies.

Kalman filter and Neural Network methods for detecting irregular variations of TEC around the time of powerful Mexico (Mw=8.2) earthquake of September 08, 2017
In 98 km SW of Tres Picos in Mexico (15.022°N, 93.899°W, 47.40 km depth) a powerful earthquake of Mw=8.2 took place at 04:49:19 UTC (LT=UTC-05:00) on September 8, 2017. In this study, using three standard, classical and intelligent methods including median, Kalman filter, and Neural Network, respectively, the GPS Total Electron Content (TEC) measurements of three months were surveyed to detect ...
متن کاملThe Challenges and Trends of Deploying Blockchain in the Real World for the Users’ Need
Blockchain technology is a decentralized and open database maintained by a peer-to-peer network, offering a “trustless trust” for untrusted parties. Despite the fact that some researchers consider blockchain as a bubble, blockchain technology has the genuine potential to solve problems across industries. In this article, we provide an overview of the development that Blockchain technology has h...
متن کاملReevaluation of the Macroseismic Effects of the 1887 Sonora, Mexico Earthquake and its Magnitude Estimation
The Sonora, Mexico, earthquake of 3 May 1887 occurred a few years before the start of the instrumental era in seismology. We revisit all available accounts of the earthquake and assign Modified Mercalli Intensities (MMI), interpreting and analyzing macroseismic information using the best available modern methods. We find that earlier intensity assignments for this important earthquake were unju...
متن کاملScaling characteristics of ULF geomagnetic fields at the Guam seismoactive area and their dynamics in relation to the earthquake
The long-term evolution of scaling (fractal) characteristics of the ULF geomagnetic fields in the seismoactive region of the Guam Island is studied in relation to the strong (Ms = 8.0) nearby earthquake of 8 August 1993. The selected period covers 10 months before and 10 months after the earthquake. The FFT procedure, Burlaga-Klein approach and Higuchi method, have been applied to calculate the...

A new approach for Earthquake Early Warning Systems (EEWS) is presented that uses wireless, self-organizing mesh sensor networks. To develop the prototype of such IT-infrastructures, we follow a model-driven system development paradigm. Structure and behaviour models of network topologies in specific geographic regions are coupled with wave signal analyzing algorithms, alarming protocols, conve...
